Hi. My name is Heidi and I’m addicted to Pinterest.
Ok, maybe not addicted but I enjoy looking through whatever others have posted and searching for something particular when the creativity juices are flowing. Everyone that’s on Pinterest has pinned more ideas than they’ll ever try and most often had failures than successes; there’s even several blogs you can easily find regarding others’ experiences. Proving my Pinterest obsession, I’m writing this I’ve got another reci-pin going in the slow cooker and another that has since come out of the oven.
I think I’ve had pretty good luck with recipes and ideas I’ve tried (but who would read about all the goods things when the failures are funnier). My biggest personal Pinterest-flop was a cookie recipe that didn’t look anything like the pictures throughout the process. The “batter” was runny and just went all over the baking pan making it a pain to try to get a uniform shape. Somehow, it all turned out ok. There was so much batter that I was able to alter the directions for a better result each time I put a new batch on the pan. I ended up with at least 4 dozen cookies. With what I adjusted, I’m pretty sure I can get a consistent cookie … for whenever I’ll need 50 cookies again.
When planning a party, the biggest factor will be food. It’s easy to theme and it’s the easiest to adjust to your timeframe. You can stagger serving times for different courses based on the length of the party and certain times of the day won’t have your guests expecting a full meal (it’s always wise to have something to offer even if it’s a candy buffet or cheese and fruit platters with hors d'oeuvres for a couple hours. Should you opt to offer a meal, you can make a homemade feast for a crowd without having all to devote all your time to the stove. Buffet style catering from restaurants is always an option, don’t get me wrong, but nothing is better than that personal touch. Slow cooker meals are the best way to get a large serving in just a few hours without having to monitor it too much. These frees up time you can utilize for putting up final decorations or finishing some cleaning.

There are plenty of recipes available through many sources that are simple, quick and delicious. Don’t be overwhelmed when arranging what you’ll offer.
Note: I tried one of the 2 ingredient pumpkin muffins I made for breakfast this week (the pumpkin aroma was just too much … I had to!). So simple to make and tastes amazing! Pretty sure they’re better than Dunkin Donuts. Not possible you say? I didn’t have to wait for Dunks to decide when fall starts so yeah. Better! :)
